Athletes of the Week!

Congratulations to this week's Athletes of the Week, Carter Van Den Eng and Kenny McGrath!  Both guys have been big contributors in the pool this past week!  Carter has become quite the backstroke specialist this season--he has scored backstroke points pretty much every time he's swam.  Kenny has divided his time between the 500 and the 100 breast, and has scored varsity points in both events for us this season.  Both guys are quick to help out around the deck, and they are both super-nice guys. Carter and Kenny both go to Kimberly High School.

Congratulations, guys!  I am proud of you!

Coach Vicki

You Did It!

Woo Hoo!!!!

You Did It!  You Ran the Table!!!

You Beat North/East. You Beat Fond du Lac!  You Beat Oshkosh West!

ALL IN THE LAST WEEK!

AW-K guys, I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of you!  You got up there and competed together and believed and YOU DID IT!

There is no greater feeling than competing for your school (except, maybe, competing for two high schools), and you guys did it with class and great sportsmanship the whole way.  You have literally changed the course of the entire program.

I said this last night, and I truly mean it--I have never coached team with a bigger heart than this one. You guys are amazing athletes, but more importantly, you are good guys.  I am so proud to be your coach!

With lots of AW-K Pride,

Coach Vicki

PS You will always be the guys who made me cry at a dual meet (a dual meet!!).

Athletes of the Week!

Hi Team!

Congratulations to this week's Athletes of the Week, Chad Heldt and Hannan Seguin!  Both guys really knocked it out of the park at last weekend's invites--they both swam best times, and they both ended up on the podium for their individual events!  On Friday night, Hannan finished 2nd in the 100 Back, and 6th in the 200 IM.  Both Hannan and Chad swam on the Medley Relay which took 5th place.  Chad also swam on the 200 Free Relay which also took 5th place.  On Saturday, Hannan swam back on the Medley Relay, and they finished in 5th place.  He also took 7th place in the 100 IM, and 5th in the 50 back.  Chad finished 3rd in the 25 free, and he anchored the 100 Free Relay, which took 3rd. Chad also finished 7th in the 50 free.  In addition to all their accomplishments in the pool, both Chad and Hannan are doing a fantastic job as team captains this season.  They both work hard, and they are both great role models.

Congratulations, Chad and Hannan!  I am proud of you!

Dual vs. Appleton North/East & Parent Night

Hi Team!

Our dual meet vs. Appleton North/East & Parent Night has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 21st at 10 am at Appleton West.  We will begin warm-ups at 8:30.  I'll need all the guys there by 8:00 to get the pool set up.  I am hoping that this date works for everyone--most of the team had early morning practice scheduled for that day.  We will still do introductions of the athletes and their parents that morning.  I'll post the revised timetable as the meet gets closer.  Thanks for your flexibility, everyone!

Tonight's Dual vs. Appleton North/East is Cancelled!

Hi Team!

I just got the official word that AASD is cancelling all after school activities, including our meet against Appleton North/East.  We are working on rescheduling the meet & Parent Night.  I'll let you know the new date as soon as I hear.

In the meantime, please be careful out there--the roads are terrible!

Stay safe!

Coach Vicki

Athletes of the Week!

Congratulations to this week's Athletes of the Week:  Trevor Reese and Brady Malcomson!  Both of these guys have been training extremely hard, and it has been paying off in the pool.  Both Brady and Trevor swam best times at the Ashwaubenon Invite and scored individual points for the team. Trevor and Brady are great about helping out on deck, and they are both fantastic role models.

Way to go, guys!  I am proud of you!

Upcoming January Meets

Hi Team!

Get ready, things are going to start getting exciting again for AW-K Swimming & Diving!   After our long Christmas break and this week's bye, I'm extra-ready to watch the guys race again!

This weekend our divers will compete at Neenah High School, and the varsity swimmers will compete in Ashwaubenon.  The dive invite starts at 10 am and will feature some of the best divers from around Wisconsin.  I can't wait to see how our guys do!  The swim invite starts at 1:00 pm and takes place at the Ashwaubenon Community Center (936 Anderson Dr, Green Bay, WI 54304).   The guys want to stop and eat before they come home, so they will need to bring money to cover the cost of their meal.

Next Tuesday, January 10th, is our first home dual meet and also Parent's Night.  Each swimmer and their parents will be announced before the meet, and parents will walk with their swimmer or diver around the pool.  Please plan on being at the pool by 5:20 on Tuesday. We will start the Parent Night introductions at 5:25.  Parents will remain with their athletes on deck until after the Star Spangled Banner.  The Appleton North/East divers will be celebrating Parent Night that night, as well.  For that reason, the diving portion of the meet will take place after the 50 free instead of before the meet.

Next Friday night, January 13th, is the Appleton North Invite for the swimmers.  The meet begins at 5:30 pm.  All AW-K swimmers are invited to participate in this invite.  Any JV swimmer who wants to swim just needs to let me know, and I will get them into the lineup.  We do not get bus service to Appleton North, so each swimmer is responsible for getting to North by 4 pm.  We have tons of drivers on the team, so if your swimmer needs a ride, it shouldn't be a problem.  The divers will be at Neenah that night doing the diving portion of the Neenah Invite, which begins at 5:30. On Saturday, the swimmers will travel to Neenah for the Neenah Invite.  This is a varsity-only invite that begins at 9 am.

On Tuesday, January 17th, the entire team will travel to Oshkosh West.  The meet starts at 5:30 pm. There will be an entry fee for this meet.

On Tuesday, January 24th, we will host Fond du Lac for our Senior Night.  We will introduce the seniors from each team during the break but will save our celebration until after the meet.  We'd love it if everyone could stick around after the meet to help us recognize our fantastic seniors.

Finally, on Saturday,  January 28th, the varsity will travel to the UW-Madison Natatorium to compete in the Madison West Invite.  The diving portion takes place in the morning at 9:15.  The swim meet starts at 3 pm.

That takes us up to Championship Season!  I'll do a separate post about those meets in the next couple of weeks.  In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

With AW-K Pride,

Coach Vicki
