The Team Clothing Store is OPEN!

Hi Team!

Our team clothing store is OPEN for business, but you've got to act fast--it closes on Sunday at 11:59 pm to ensure that all of the orders are delivered in time for Christmas.  You can purchase long and short-sleeved t-shirts and crew-neck sweatshirts in both black and gray with our signature AW-K Swim and Dive screen-printed on the front.  You can personalize the back of any of these items for an additional fee.  There are also new beanies available with AW-K embroidered on the front.

Here is the link to get into our team store:  https://awkswimdive.itemorder.com/sale

I will pick up the orders when then are done and pass them out at practice.  If you are ordering a special gift as a surprise, please let me know.  I will be happy to pull your order aside.

Please note that everything in the store is OPTIONAL team clothing--athletes are not required to purchase any of this additional clothing.  Having said that, I hope to see a whole bunch of shirts, sweatshirts, and beanies on the guys and on our friends and families at meets.  Nothing makes me happier than looking into the stands and seeing a big bunch of AW-K fans in the stands!

Have fun shopping!

Coach Vicki

Meet the Team/Parent Potluck/Team Meeting Info!

Hi Team!

The 2017-2018 season begins tomorrow!  I am so excited to get things started!

On Monday we will meet at the pool at 3:45.  We will not be getting in the water--we will go over team rules, set some team goals, and get to know each other a bit.  On Tuesday we will get in the water, for sure.  Please bring a practice suit, goggles, and a water bottle.

Thursday night (November 16th) is our big Meet the Team/Parent Potluck/Team Meeting.  We will meet in the Appleton West cafeteria at 6 pm.  Nancy Hendel will be sending out an email about food sign-ups via SignUpGenius.  Please be on the lookout and respond as soon as you can so we can be sure we have the food covered for Thursday night.  Parents can park by the pool or on the street and head to the cafeteria. I hope to have everything done by 7:30 at the very latest.

Get ready -- I just know this is going to be an amazing season!

Coach Vicki

Last Lambeau!

Hi Team!

We've got one last clean-up party at Lambeau Field this Friday, September 1st, from 4:15-7:30.  We have done a fantastic job getting big groups of volunteers to work at each clean-up.  Let's see if we can set a record at this last one!  The list of volunteers is pretty small so far, but I know you guys will come through for the program.  Remember--each swimmer is required to work at 2 Lambeau clean-ups, and you need to bring a parent with you to at least one of the two.  I have kept volunteer lists for the last three, and between the two teams, there are quite a few of you who still need to come and volunteer.  A bunch of you have worked at all three of this year's Lambeau clean-ups--THANK YOU!!

Here's who I have signed up so far:

September 1st  4:15-7:30 pm
Vicki Terlap
Peyton Michler
Ben Todd
Becca Sesto
Carrie Olson
Amy Funk
Lexee Funk
Owen Daniels
Mike Daniels
Ava DeGroot
Kyra Woodrow
Sandy Bevers
Chad Bevers
Hailey Bevers

Please text or email me by Thursday if you are able to help out.  Thank you!

Thank You, Lambeau Clean-Up Crews!

 Hi Team!

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped clean Lambeau last week!  I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried about trying to get enough people to work at two different Lambeau clean-ups in one week, but you guys came through--big time!  We had the two largest clean-up crews we've ever had!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We are officially one of the "big" crews, now!  I'd like to send a big shout-out to Meghan Harper, who came back as an alumni to help (and brought her boyfriend!).  It is so awesome to have such great support for the program!

We have one more Lambeau clean-up left this year--September 1st, from 4:15-7:30.  Please let me know if you are planning on coming to help.  I'm so excited that all 4 of our clean-up dates will be over before the school year even starts!

Thanks for showing up in a big way to support AW-K Swimming & Diving!

Coach Vicki

Hi Team!

We have two big Lambeau clean-ups coming up next week:  Sunday, August 6th, from 1-4 pm, and Friday, August 11th, from 4:30-7:30.  We still need a bunch of people to sign up in order to make our goal.  I am posting the list of people who have already signed up.  Please text or email me ASAP to let me know you can help. Lambeau Clean Up #2 Date Change

Hi Team!

The Lambeau folks have changed the date of this year's Family Night, which of course changes our second clean up date.  There is no longer a July 31st clean up.  The new date for clean up crew #2 is Sunday, August 6th from 1-4 pm.  This will be another day that will pay more than the $700 base fee, so let's get another 50 fabulous volunteers over to Lambeau that day!

I know that some of you who signed up for the 31st might not be available on August 6th.  I'm going to go ahead and start a new sign-up list for August 6th.  Please email or text me if you can help out on that day. Just a reminder--all AW-K guys and girls are required to work at a minimum of two Lambeau clean-ups. You must bring a parent (or two) to at least one of those clean-ups.

The other two dates are:

Friday, August 11th, at 4:30-7:30 pm  (Yes--that will mean 2 Lambeau clean-ups that week--yahoo!!)

Friday, September 1st, at 4:30-7:30 pm

Thanks a big bunch!

With AW-K Pride,

Coach Vicki

Noah's Ark and the AW-K Photo

Hi Team!

On Wednesday, July 12th, the girls and guys teams are going to go to Noah's Ark together for the day. We will meet at 8:00 am at the Appleton West pool parking lot, and return to the same place at 8:00 pm.  The cost of the trip is $40, which covers your entry fee and the cost of the bus.  Please bring money to cover the cost of your lunch (or you can bring one!) and dinner.  We will stop for dinner on the way home.  There is a Noodles and a few other restaurants to choose from.  You need to print out a copy of the permission slip (click on the link on the right side of this page), and get it and a check for $40 (made out to Appleton West Swimming and Diving) to me by July 9th at the very latest.  You can mail both things to Appleton West at 610 Badger Street, Appleton, WI 54914, or you can bring it to the team picture session on July 9th (see below).

All-program team picture:  AW-K Swimming and Diving is sponsoring a hole at the Terror Backer's Golf Outing, and we need a picture for them to put on the poster.  If you are in town and available, please come on over to Appleton West pool at 6:30 on Sunday, July 9th.  You can just wear shorts and a t-shirt. I'll have parkas for the girls to wear and warm ups for the boys.  We get to keep the poster after the fundraiser.  I plan on displaying it in the pool, so I'd love it if a big bunch of AW-K girls and guys can be in the photo.  All incoming freshmen to seniors are encouraged to come on over!!

Hope to see you on Sunday and on the 12th!

With AW-K Pride,

Coach Vicki

Thank You and a Few Odds and Ends

Hi Team!

Holy cow!  We had 50 volunteers show up to help on Sunday at Lambeau!  Despite a *brief* sprinkle, I'd have to say that Sunday was the most pleasant of all the Lambeau cleaning days we have ever done.  There was WAY less trash to clean up, and we even got to go on the field.  Given the reaction of all of the Packer fans in our group, I'm guessing that is a big deal.  :)  I'd like to say a special thank you to the dads who gave up part of their Father's Day to support the team and to Chad Heldt and Connor O'Brien who came out to support the team as alumni.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped on Sunday.

All kinds of information about June 30th's AW-K Triathlon will be posted after I meet with the guys later tonight.  We are going to need about 25 volunteers to help out that day in order to make sure the course is safe for all of our athletes.

Our all-program trip to Noah's Ark is July 12th.  You must have your permission slip and fee in to a captain or myself by July 7th.  To get a permission slip, click on the link on the side of the page and print one out.  The permission slip says "Appleton West" on the top, but it is for both Appleton West and Kimberly athletes.  There is a $40 fee for the trip which covers the admission price and bus costs.

With AW-K Pride,
Coach Vicki

Lambeau Field Clean Up Dates!

Hi Team!

Remember how much FUN we had cleaning Lambeau Field last year?!?  Well, good news!  We get to do it 4 more times!  Hooray!  That's a minimum of $2,100!  We are planning on using the money we raise at Lambeau to purchase team bags.

This year we will be working with the girls team to ensure that we have at least 30 people each time.  Of course, the more people we bring to each clean-up, the more money we make, so I'm hoping we get 40+ each time.    Each team member needs to commit to volunteer at least twice (you can definitely come more than twice!) and you need to bring at least one parent to one of those two dates.

Here are the 2017 Dates:

Sunday, June 18th at 1-4 pm
Monday, July 31st at 4:30-7:30 pm
Friday, August 11th, at 4:30-7:30 pm
Friday, September 1st, at 4:30-7:30 pm

All kinds of directions will be posted once it gets closer to the first clean-up date.  Please email me or text me and let me know which dates work for you.  I can't tell you how excited I am to clean Lambeau with  all of you 4 more times!

With AW-K Pride,

Coach Vicki

Athletes of the Week!

 Hi Team!

Wow!  How wonderful was last Saturday's Conference meet?!?  I promise I'm going to sit down and do a couple of meet recaps once things settle down, but for now, I'd like to recognize three guys who did a spectacular job at Conference (and all year!).  This week's Athlete's of the Week are Nick O'Brien, Ian Hawley, and Benjamin Todd.

Nick dove his way onto the podium with his 7th place finishing score of 275.70.  This is Nick's first year diving for AW-K, and he has done a fantastic job improving his technique and scoring needed points all season.  Congratulations, Nick!  I see many podiums in your future!

Ian swam a season-best 50 free and dropped another 3 seconds in his 100 back on Saturday to land on the podium in 6th place! Ian also swam on the JV 400 FR which finished 11th.  Ian is an incredibly hard worker, and is totally deserving of being named Athlete of the Week!

Ben has been a huge varsity points contributor all season, and Saturday was no exception!  He dropped 3 seconds off his 200 free to finish in 7th place, and he took 8th place in the 100 fly.  He was a key member of the 200 FR which finished in 4th, and the 400 FR which took 3rd.  He went 4/4 on podiums on Saturday!  Ben has also trained extremely hard this season, and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes on Saturday!

Congratulations, guys!  I am very proud of you!
