Christmas Break Practice Schedule

Hi Team!

I've been getting a bunch of questions about when practice will be during Christmas break.  Here is the schedule:

Thursday, December 22nd --Whole team morning practice:  5:45-6:45 am.  No afternoon practice.
Friday, December 23-Sunday, December 25th--no practice  (Merry Christmas!!)
Monday, December 26th--4-6 pm
Tuesday, December 27th through Friday, December 30th--8-10 am
Saturday, December 31st--no practice (Happy New Year!!)

If you are in town, we expect you to be at practice.  Christmas break comes at a critical time in our season--we have to keep working if we want to reach our goals!

A Note From Appleton West Athletic Director, Jim McClowry

Dear AW Winter Sports Parents/Guardians:

Our winter season is in full swing and we are excited about the direction of our programs.  Thank you for all you do to help our kids be successful in the classroom and on the athletic field.   As I shared at the code meeting in October, we are adding another initiative to our winter programs by partnering with Cathy Morrow who will serve as our Sports Psychology Consultant.  For those of you who were not able to meet her in person, please see the attachment for some information of who she is and what she is going to be doing with our teams.  Please let me know if you have questions or you can talk to your head coach directly if that works better.  We are planning for Cathy to support us in building the best possible team dynamics and healthy team environments.   We are the first high school in Wisconsin bringing this level of training and support to their programs.

To help us move forward, would you please do the following two things by Friday, Dec 2?

Lambeau Clean Up!

Hi Team!

Our second big Lambeau clean up is this coming Sunday, December 4th, at 4:15 pm. Our shift will last 2-3 hours, so we will be out of there by 7:30 (at the latest).  We need 30 volunteers to commit to working on Sunday in order to receive $700.  This money will go directly to paying for our new team warm-ups.  Please let me know if you can help by Friday, December 2nd.  You can either leave a comment on the Facebook post or text me.

Important Reminders:

1.   Parking is in the Lambeau Field parking lot near the Fleet Farm Gate located on the west side of Lambeau Field area.  

2.   Prior to entering the Fleet Farm gate all group members are required to fill out a sign-in sheet.  

3.  Please arrive at Lambeau Field at 4:15.    

4.  There is no dress code for the post game volunteer groups.  Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately based on the weather. Opened-toed shoes are not permitted.

5.  Plastic gloves and bottled water will be provided.

** Please make sure you have a ride set up for the way home.  

I absolutely can't wait to clean Lambeau again with all of you!

Parent Potluck --Meet the Team!

Hi Team!

I am so excited to kick the season off tomorrow!  I just wanted to remind you about Thursday night's Parent Potluck/Meet the Team celebration.  We will meet in the cafeteria right after practice at 6 pm to have dinner together, go over a few details, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and meet this year's team.

We are asking that each family brings a main dish to share (one that serves 6-8) and one of the following:

Freshmen:  fruit or veggies
Sophomores:  desserts
Juniors:  drinks
Seniors:  chips or snacks

I will provide plates, napkins, plastic ware, and cups.  Please bring your own serving utensil, if needed, for your dish.  In the past, families have brought meatballs, pizzas, sub sandwiches, pulled pork, etc. for their main dish.  I'm pretty sure the guys will appreciate whatever you bring!

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody on Thursday night!

A Couple of Pictures from Sunday

Hi Team,

I thought you might like to see a couple of pictures from Sunday.  It was great to see so many of you out at Pierce and over at the Hendel's for the team dinner!

 I'd like to say a big thank you to Nancy and Craig Hendel who opened up their home for the team dinner.  The baked ziti was amazing, and the cookie cake was fabulous. I think it's safe to say that the entire team enjoyed the dinner!  Thank you so much!

I'm looking forward to getting the season started on Monday!  Just a reminder--we will not be getting in the water on Monday, but you will need your suit, goggles, and a water bottle on Tuesday.

Please make sure you have all your paperwork and fees turned in to the office before Monday or you will not be able to get in the water on Tuesday.  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
